FAQ

Are all Skin Contact pieces handmade?

Yes. Skin Contact pieces are handmade in small batches in Los Angeles. Because each piece is made by hand, slight variations in color, shape, length, pearl shape, bead placement, and materials may occur. That’s part of what makes each piece special.

What materials do you use?

Skin Contact pieces may include freshwater pearls, glass beads, stainless steel, vintage finds, and other materials when available. Materials are listed in each product description whenever possible.

Will my piece look exactly like the photo?

Each piece will be very similar to the photo, but not always identical. Because we use handmade, natural, and vintage materials, small variations are normal and part of the charm.

How should I care for my jewelry?

Treat her gently. Avoid water, perfume, lotions, sweat, pools, showers, harsh chemicals, and rough handling. Store your jewelry in a dry place when not in use to help keep it looking its best.

Can I shower or swim in my jewelry?

We do not recommend it. To help preserve your piece, remove your jewelry before showering, swimming, working out, sleeping, or applying perfume, lotions, oils, or other products.

When will my order ship?

Please allow 3–5 business days for your order to be processed before shipping, unless otherwise stated in the product description. Once your order ships, you will receive tracking information by email.

Do you accept returns or exchanges?

Because Skin Contact pieces are handmade in small batches, all sales are final unless an item arrives damaged or defective. For hygiene and quality reasons, earrings are final sale. Custom, made-to-order, vintage, and sale items are also final sale unless they arrive damaged or defective.

What should I do if my item arrives damaged?

Please contact us within 7 days of delivery at hello@skincontact.co with your order number and clear photos of the item and packaging. We’ll review the issue and do our best to make it right.

Do you offer repairs?

Repairs are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If your Skin Contact piece needs repair, email us at hello@skincontact.cowith your order number and photos of the piece. Repair and shipping fees may apply depending on the issue and availability of materials.

Do you make custom pieces?

Custom pieces may be available depending on timing, materials, and the type of request. Email us at hello@skincontact.co with what you have in mind, and we’ll let you know if we can make it happen.

Are your pieces hypoallergenic?

Some Skin Contact pieces use stainless steel components, which are generally more suitable for sensitive skin than many plated metals. However, everyone’s skin is different, and we cannot guarantee that any piece will be hypoallergenic. Please review product materials carefully before purchasing.

Do you use vintage materials?

Yes, when available. We love using vintage finds because they make pieces feel more special and one-of-a-kind. Because these materials are limited, they may not be restocked once sold out.

Will sold-out pieces be restocked?

Maybe, but not always. Since Skin Contact is small-batch and often uses limited materials, some pieces may not come back once they sell out. If you see something you love, get it!

Do you ship internationally?

Not at this time. Skin Contact currently ships within the United States only.
